Handyman services are more expensive than general contractors.

Yes! A handyman can sometimes provide a much cheaper alternative to having a general contractor complete a task. This is especially true if you have never had a contractor perform a particular job before. Because they have the expertise to complete certain tasks more quickly and efficiently, a handyman can speed up the project's completion.

How To

How to Replace Broken Tiles

Step 1 - Take out the old tiles.

The tiles should be removed from the flooring and placed aside. These tiles will be useful later on, so you'll need to keep them intact. To avoid any problems with replacements, take note of the pieces that have been damaged or lost.

Step 2 - Choose New Tiles

You can take a look at the different options for tile replacement.

  1. You should find a similar tile to the one that you've just taken out.
  2. To match a tile, you can use the measurements you took after removing it. This will allow you to quickly find the right size, without having to measure again.
  3. Find colors, patterns textures, sizes and shapes in all possible combinations.
  4. Consider which grout you would like to use, if any. Some prefer a solid color, while others like mixing it up.
  5. It is important to ensure that the tile you choose resists moisture.
  6. Finally, consider the placement of your new tile -- you can save time and money by ensuring the area you're installing it in has enough space for proper installation.
  7. Once you've chosen your tile, order it online or call your local Lowe's store to place your order.

Step 3 Install the new tiles.

For your new tiles, use the same method that you used to install them. Be careful to align them properly so they fit together perfectly.

Step 4: Clean Up

Be sure to vacuum up all crumbs and debris before applying the last layer.

This will keep dust and dirt from getting into the grout between tiles, which could lead to mold.

Step 5: Sand down the Floor

After cleaning everything, sand down the floor to remove any loose particles left behind by the previous step.

Step 6: Finish off

Apply the protective coatings once the floor is smooth. It's important to wait until this point because wet paint can stain the surface of the new tiles.

For stain protection, you can always use a product called "damp&dry" to clean your floors.

It won't solve every problem after your tiles are installed. You might want to add an anti-slip coating to the protective layer if there are a lot of children.

Remember to let the protective sealer remain on for several additional weeks before you move into your home.
